The services of the Directorate of Pharmacology and Medicines, under the Ministry of Health, decided to withdraw from the market from four drugs of which dangerous side effects are proven. These drugs are used for the treatment of flu, diabetes and obesity.
One of these palliatives, the “di-antalvic”, widely used by Tunisians against all kinds of pain or substantial ills of a cold or a teeth, would have fairly serious spinoffs on the particularly heart of which are echoes on its withdrawal in Europe and with us have already been heard since last year. According to Kamel Idir, director general of the said direction, analyzes on this drug have proven its danger, analyzes which continue, among other things, in France and the United States, but which have been started since last September in Tunisian laboratories and gave positive results, requiring its immediate withdrawal of the market and pharmacies.
The other drug withdrawn from the market is the “Accomplia”, used for the treatment of obesity and which would also have undesirable side effects, as is the “aversia” for the treatment of diabetes which caused the death of six patients in Canada following cardiovascular complications, and “Mediator” also prescribed for diabetes.
