Eya was a young schoolgirl 13 years old, she was burned long live by her father on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the city Ibn Khaldoun in Tunis. She died on June 7, 2014 at the Gauce Hospital after succumbing to her injuries.

Eya’s only “crime” was to be rented in class with a comrade. His father did not support this “insult”, this “attack on his honor”, and decided to sacrifice it.

Reactions to date, remain minimal and have not mobilized civil society and political parties as it should. This act is none other than the witness of a sick and suffering society still from the demonization of the fairer sex.

A silent white march will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in memory of Eya, it will start from the Place des Ritignees, to avenue Mohamed V via avenue Habib Bourguiba, to reach the Ministry of Women.

The purpose of this march aims to pay tribute to the memory of Eya, to denounce the violence against children and women, and to make society aware of the excessive abuses of parents’ violence against their children.

The organizers hope for a large -scale mobilization that will mark the spirits.
