The sixth correctional chamber bis, specializing in financial corruption cases at the court of first instance of Tunis, sentenced in absentia a former president of a sports association in the capital to five years in prison, accompanied by financial fines.
According to the elements of the file, the public prosecutor near the economic and financial judicial center had decided to prosecute the sports manager for accusations linked to the constitution of assets abroad without authorization from the Central Bank of Tunisia, as well as for violations of the exchange code.
The file was then sent to the specialized correctional chamber, which rendered its judgment this Friday.
This conviction is part of the series of cases handled by the Tunisian justice system concerning economic and financial offenses involving personalities from the sporting world.
The identity of the defendant has not been officially revealed, as the case is still subject to appeal.
