The at Kearney consulting firm has just published the fourth edition of its Global Cities Index. 84 cities were analyzed around the world according to the following parameters: economic activity, human capital, exchange of information, cultural supply and political influence.
At the top of the general classification, we find the major Western metropolises: New York and London, followed by Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Regarding emerging cities, Jakarta takes the lead.
In Africa, Addis Ababa occupies third place in the ranking and which is the first African city. The Ethiopian capital has evolved a lot with regard to equality of income, the health system and economic transparency. Nairobi (Kenya), takes 9th place in the ranking.
For South Africa, Johannesburg and the CAP are classified respectively 13th and 16th. Tunis completes the list of African metropolises in this ranking by taking 18th place.
