A collision occurred this Monday between two metros of the Tunis Transport Company (Transtu) at Meftah Saadallah station, in the capital. The incident involved a metro line 3 and another one from line 5.
According to initial information available, no passengers were injured. The incident, however, caused a temporary interruption of traffic on the section concerned and delays on several lines, before a gradual resumption of traffic.
Transtu indicated that an official press release will be published to clarify the circumstances of the collision and the corrective measures envisaged. An internal investigation is also underway to determine whether a technical problem or a maneuvering error is the cause of the accident.
This new episode highlights the recurring dysfunctions of the urban rail network of Tunis, marked in recent years by several breakdowns and repeated delays, often linked to the lack of maintenance of rolling stock and infrastructure.
