The end of the tunnel for Yemen? Salah sign …

The Yemeni President, Ali Abdallah Salah, signed this afternoon the transfer of power prepared by the Gulf Cooperation Council (CCG). He should then go to New York to undergo medical care, said UN Secretary General.

Ban Ki-moon also said that President Salah expressed these projects during a telephone conversation yesterday, Tuesday. “Yesterday (Tuesday) I called President Saleh and strongly encouraged him to sign the CCG initiative based on the initiative. He told me that he would immediately do it and asked me that the UN mission provides the necessary support and remains on site, “said the UN chief in front of journalists. “I told him that the United Nations would spare no effort and, as the United Nations Secretary General, I will do my best to mobilize the necessary resources and support so that peace and stability and democratic order be restored to Yemen … He clearly told me that he will return all the powers, but I understand the agreement which provides that he still remains president,” said Ban Ki-moon.

Let us recall that Salah who must give power for a temporary period to his vice-president, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, had so far refused to sign the plan to exit the crisis, accepting and then retracting at the last minute on several occasions.

The Yemeni President arrived in Ryad this morning today in order to sign the agreement. A UN emissary announced on Tuesday the finalization of a pact between power and the opposition on a plan to leave the crisis, in accordance with an initiative of the Arab monarchies in the Gulf.

The Yemeni President is the first Arab head of state ‘fallen’ following a negotiated agreement.
