Third part of our report devoted to the testimony of Karim Ben Brahim. As we have exposed to you, Karim was used and then manipulated by Sakher El Matri, who did not hesitate later, to make him torture as he tells in this last part of our report. The Calvary of Karim continued in prison with the complicity of state services subservient to the goodwill of members of the Mafieu clan. A story that tragically illustrates the methods of the old regime.
From the first return of Karim from London to Tunisia on February 3, 2009 he was removed by national security agents as soon as he got off the plane. Hooded and forced to climb into a 4 × 4, it was taken to the Ministry of the Interior. And that is where his ordeal started. He was bare, insulted, violated and suffered several rape attempts by batons. Karim really felt that his days were counted, without understanding the reason for his abduction camouflaged in arrest. Three days of mistreatment passed and it was after the third that the real nightmare began for this employee of the embassy. He was asked to write on a sheet the name of all his friends who lived in his hometown, without exception, all the closest and the less close men.
During all this time, his family who had come to welcome him to the airport, remained without news.
The operation was carried out with such subtlety. The Moral Affairs Brigade seized the case. After research was carried out, one of the men present on the list was taken on February 7, 2009 to the ministry, a certain Maher El H. known to be simple in mind and for his history in drug affairs, Maher was the perfect victim. He was forced to admit, in front of Karim, having had sex with him in front of the African club park in Tunis.
This is how Karim was tried and that a prison sentence was ordered to him on February 21, 2009. Of course, the judge in charge of the case was Mr. Mohamed Ben Chwika, one of the six judges discarded for corruption. The nightmare continued, the name of Karim was put on the “black list” of people under border surveillance (code 07). His phone was under listening and it was forbidden to leave Tunisia. He found himself without work or income.
The shadow of this family always hovers and despite everything, fear still remains. The case is not easy. It affects a sensitive point of the life of the businessman but also that of influential characters from the old regime. A complaint has been filed in the name of Karim so that justice was returned to him. In his complaint, he accuses Sakher El Materi, Mohamed Ghariani, Rafik Hadj Kacem and Hamida Labidi. Maitre Mohamed El Mehrzi Abbou has just seized the case in court and has just obtained the order that an investigation is open.
Damage was important for this man: more work, his private life was weakened and his image was affected. He sent a letter to three ministers, that of the interior and local development, that of justice and human rights as well as that of foreign affairs.
Karim wants to be bleached and resume his original work. He concludes; “I have a 12 -year -old kid, he really suffered.”
