The criminal chamber at the Tunis court of first instance condemned Noureddine Bhiri, former Minister of Justice and leader of the Ennahdha movement, to a sentence of ten years in prison, October 18, 2024.
Bhiri faced charges related to the publication of a call to demonstrate in support of the National Salvation Front.
According to judicial sources, he has been accused of having “prepared an attack aimed at modifying the structure of the State, incited the population to stand up against each other and caused troubles on Tunisian territory”
A deposit warrant had already been issued against Bhiri on February 14, 2023. The former minister was also involved in other major cases, including accusations of conspiracy against national security and a case concerning Jilani Daboussi.
