Network addiction would be chronic

Those who have a lot of friends have a larger part of the brain. This is the conclusion of a recent study. Far from being a joke, this conclusion is the fruit of the work of a team of researchers led by Dr Lisa Feldman of the prestigious Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital.

The study is based on observations made on 58 people. They were invited to list their knowledge and social networks and then were subjected to an MRI of the brain. Researchers have noticed that the more complex the social network, the greater the size of the brain tonsil.

But which one caused the other? The study does not say it. We do not yet know if having a lot of friends make the tank of the brain fat or if you have a big branch of the brain makes us more sociable.

The article was published in the newspaper Nature Neuroscience. It is added to previous studies around the amygdal of the brain, this peer core notably involved in recognition and emotional expression.
