Medical student Mohamed Jihad Majdoub left prison on Monday after a ruling by the criminal chamber specializing in terrorism of the Tunis Court of Appeal reduced his sentence to two years of imprisonment, accompanied by one year of administrative control. This decision amounts to confirming the first instance judgment while rendering his immediate release.
According to a judicial source contacted by the TAP agency, the criminal chamber held its session for the day under normal conditions and examined all the files registered, including that of Mohamed Jihad Majdoub.
A file open since September 2023
Mohamed Jihad Majdoub was arrested in September 2023 in the governorate of Kasserine, accused of attempting to join terrorist groups active in the mountainous area of Chaâmbi. The court sentenced him at first instance to ten years in prison, accompanied by five years of administrative control.
With the judgment rendered on December 8, the sentence was reduced to two years of imprisonment, already served, which allowed his immediate release and the reduction of administrative control to one year.
