Six agents of Tunis-Carthage airport were arrested following a traveler complaint after the flight of their luggage.
The Directorate General of National Security said, in a statement, dated this Monday, June 12, 2023, that agents employed by a handling company at the airport were arrested following a complaint for theft of luggage.
Travelers had filed a complaint following the flight of their luggage. The security units falling under the Judicial Investigations Service at Tunis-Carthage Airport then intervened and set a trap for suspects, which were arrested in possession of part of the “loot”.
They then led searches to the homes of the suspects, and seized several objects belonging to travelers including four perfume bottles, four luxury sports tracks, three sunglasses, a watch and a luxury ring, seven mobile phones, a camera and a sum of money, added the press release.
After consulting the prosecution, an investigation was opened for “theft by taking advantage of the function attributes”. Six agents were arrested, five of whom were placed in detention. Three other suspects were presented before the prosecution.
