Zarkoun Street has long housed within it, several brothels and other reserved districts.
One after the other, these places of legal prostitution have disappeared and the last of them is behind the pile of stone and the iron door which are in our photo.
It is indeed Sidi Abdallah Gueche Street where the Boxons de Tunis were recently. The coronavirus pandemic will have been right for this “institution” which was under the supervision of the public authorities which were ensuring health and safety.
Attacked by the Salafists in February 2012, this reserved district had then been sheltered with the construction of a monumental iron gate.
This portal covered with stones now hides the lash of alleys which is just behind. Deserted today, this district has a long history and is fully part of popular memory.
