An emerging brand on the Tunisian market has a remarkable breakthrough among the world car manufacturers specializing in electric vehicles, to the point of upsetting the leader Tesla of Elon Musk.

It is byd (Build Your Dreams), relatively little known in Tunisia, which has just surpassing Tesla by Elon Musk by becoming the market leader in electric cars, according to figures from the last quarter of 2023.

This Chinese manufacturer, established in Shenzhen and founded in 1995, sold 526,409 electric vehicles worldwide, against 484,507 for Tesla in the last quarter of 2023. However, Tesla retains its leading position over the year with 1.8 million vehicles sold, compared to 1.6 million for byd.

Byd (Build Your Dreams) is a multinational high -tech multinational specialized in automotive, electronics, new energies and rail transport. In addition to electric vehicles, byd also produces hybrid models, rechargeable batteries and plans to extend its market in Europe, while emphasizing sustainable development.

In Tunisia, Byd is represented by its Helios Cars dealer. Although Build Your Dreams is still relatively unknown, it aspires to develop on the market despite administrative challenges, such as the requirement imposed on new dealers installed after 2016 to have their own mounting factories.

According to our sources, a new specifications are in preparation to facilitate the distribution of cars among new dealerships, thus opening the way to the expansion of byd on the Tunisian market.

The model currently available in Tunisia is byd Tang, a premium SUV, which does not have an electric motor but only a heat engine developing 189 CV DIN, coupled with a 6 -speed automatic gearbox.
