The drama came to knock on the door of the Algerian championship this weekend with the death of a Cameroonian player, Albert Ebossé, 25 years old. The Kabylia sports striker received a projectile at the head and died despite his immediate evacuation to the hospital. This drama took place this Saturday, August 23, during the Algerian Ligue 1 meeting between the JSK and the USM Algiers (1-2). At the end of the match, while the two teams returned to the locker room, a projectile jet from the supporters reached Cameroonians. He is urgently transported to the hospital where a cranial trauma is first diagnosed.

According to Professor Abbas Ziri, CEO of the Tizi-Ouzou CHU, the death of the Cameroonian player “was caused by a violent cervical trauma, and occurred in the first seconds of his admission to the service of medical emergencies where a medical team tried everything to revive him, but in vain”. “The autopsy will determine the exact causes of this drama,” he added.

Faced with this drama, the Algerian Minister of the Interior asked for the immediate opening of an investigation into this tragic incident while the Cameroonian ambassador in Algiers, Claude Joseph Mbafou, said he was indignant by this tragic death, in an interview with TSA. The president of CAF, Issa Hayatou also reacted following the death of the JSK striker, asking for exemplary sanctions towards the faults.

The Algerian Football Federation has decided to react by taking the following measures, namely, the suspension of all the matches of the Professional and Amateur League Championships all categories, scheduled in Algeria for the weekend of August 30 in tribute to Albert Ebossé, but also in protest to the irresponsible actions of certain infantrymen and hooligans who maintain violence in stages and Reached unacceptable proportions, reports the scorer.

The FAF has also decided to grant compensation in the amount of ten million dinars (100,000 dollars) to the deceased family. In addition, it was decided by mutual agreement with JS Kabylie, which all the wages of the deceased player will be fully paid to his family until his contract with the JSK.
