The Vélorution Tunisie association will inaugurate, next Saturday, bicycle car parks located in four sites in the Marsa commune. These are the parking lots of SAF-SAF, TGM, OUELD El Bey and the Mosque.
The objective of this initiative is to secure bicycle parking, encouraging urban travel by bicycle and contributing to the development of a sustainable city, the association said in a statement published this Tuesday, January 10.
This approach is part of “Gari Biskletek 2.0”, a project to install cycle infrastructure and training for cycle mobility, launched in partnership with the Marsa Municipality, the National School of Engineers in Tunis (ENIT), the Higher Institute of Environmental and Urban Planning and Building (ISTEUB) (ENAU).
“Gari Biskletek 2.0” is supported by the Goethe Tunisie Institute as part of the “Houmtek” project (your neighborhood) aimed at revaluing public space.
In June 2022, students winners of a competition launched by the association carried out the design of the parking lot and followed the project until its installation in public space.
Since its creation in 2017, the association “Vélorution” has been working to promote bicycle as “a means of ecological urban transport and a vector of social inclusion and equality between genres”.
