The Nabeul National Guard units dismantled a network of scam operating on social networks and arrested a foreign national involved in fraudulent practices.
The latter extracted money from citizens by using false promises and illegal methods, according to a statement published Tuesday evening by the General Directorate of the National Guard.
The survey began after receiving specific information on the suspicious actions of the respondent. Presenting himself as a doctor and allegedly practicing witchcraft, he would have acted in coordination with an accomplice based abroad. His stratagem allowed him to scam his victims by promising them care or occult services in exchange for important sums of money.
The suspect was arrested and given to the judicial authorities for the continuation of legal proceedings. The Directorate General of the National Guard calls on citizens for vigilance and encourages them to report any suspicious activity by contacting 71 860 135, in order to effectively fight against online scams and protect the population.
