Update – Russ Cook, has just arrived in Ras Angela in Bizerte after having traveled all Africa on foot.
Originally from Worthing, England, and 27 years old, he started his journey in Cap Agulhas, in South Africa, last April and crossed 16 countries until his final destination, Ras Angela, in Bizerte in Tunisia.
It has traveled the entire west coast of Africa, crossing South Africa, Namibia, Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Algeria and Tunisia in about 352 days. Arriving at the northern tip of Africa, Ras Angela, Tunisia, he will be the first to cross all of Africa while running.
Throughout his journey, Mr. Cook collected funds for two associations and recently increased by donations. Over the past seven days, he collected more than £ 217,000 (850,000 DT) out of a total of £ 568,000 (225,000 DT). His journey was marked by tests: an armed robbery in Angola, a disappearance in the Congolese jungle and administrative obstacles to obtain a visa in January. Despite these challenges, mobilization on social networks made it possible to obtain the necessary visa to cross the Algerian border.
This crossing of Africa constitutes its greatest challenge, although it has already run from Asia in England, performing 71 marathons in 66 days, after only participating in the Brighton marathon.
