What was to be a traditional popular festival unfortunately ended in pain. The opening show of Sâf Festival in Haouaria, also called Sparrowhawk Festivalwas marked by a serious incident when a traditional weapon exploded in the hands of a participant.
During the parade, the injured man manipulated a bandoqiaa traditional artisanal weapon used in folk shows, when it exploded, causing a serious injury resulting in the amputation of its hand. The explosion also seriously injured a woman among the public, affected by bursts of chevotine.
Transported in an emergency to a hospital in the capital, the victim remains in critical condition. This accident caused a significant panic among the many spectators present for this opening.
The police and civil protection quickly intervened to secure the premises, while an investigation was opened in order to shed light on the exact circumstances of the drama.
This festival, a strong symbol of popular traditions of Cap Bon and Tunisia, is now darken by this tragic event.
