After being struck by a yacht 88 meters long, the Quai du Port de marinance de Bizerte underwent damage this Friday, October 11.
The incident occurred in the early afternoon when the captain of the ship lost control during the docking maneuver. The yacht, belonging to a Saudi businessman and from Italy, was to make a stopover to get supplier in fuel.
Mohamed Ali Ben Ammar, director of the marina, told Mosaic FM that the authorities quickly reacted by opening an investigation under the supervision of the Bizerte maritime guard to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. Inspections were carried out on site to assess the material damage caused, both at the quay and at the front of the yacht.
The causes of the collision remain to be specified, and measures have been taken in accordance with the procedures in force.
