A Ukrainian plane crashed this Saturday, August 30, south of Tamanrasset airport, reports the APS agency, citing the services of the wilaya. The crash took place at 2:40 am, reports the same source. The “Antonov 12” type apparently crashed into a mountainous area about fifteen kilometers south of Tamanrasset airport. There were seven people on board, all members of the crew. The device went to Equatorial Guinea. The plane crashed 12 minutes after taking off.

For the time being, local official sources have confirmed that the emergency services dispatched by the Algerian army have been able to find 3 fully charred bodies, according to the Algerian media.

According to a press release from the Algerian Ministry of Transport relayed by the APS, the plane “lost contact with the Tamanrasset aerodrome control tower three minutes after takeoff from said airport or 1:44 mn GMT”.

The aircraft in question, which was carrying oil equipment, provided a cargo flight from Prestwick Airport (Glasgow-Uk) to Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), with several technical stops including Ghardaïa and Tamanrasset airports, specifies the ministry.
