Esperance de Tunis formalized the return of Youssef Msakni this Friday. The experienced striker, aged 35, comes to strengthen the Sang et Or as the winter transfer window approaches, to compensate for the prolonged absence of Youssef Belaïli, injured during the last derby against Club Africain.
Strategic recruitment to compensate for a major absence
Msakni joins Esperance in a particular context: Youssef Belaïli, victim of a serious injury to the cruciate ligament and meniscus, will be sidelined for several months. The return of the Tunisian international therefore constitutes a key reinforcement for the club.
Youssef Msakni, who signed a one and a half year contract, had already worn the colors of Esperance between 2008 and 2013, during which he won four Tunisian championship titles, a Tunisian Cup, and the African Champions League in 2011.
An international career before returning home
After his first period at Esperance, Msakni continued his career in Qatar, playing successively for Al-Duhail then Al-Arabi. His return to Tunis marks the start of a new chapter for the player, who started his career at Stade Tunisien.
