Update: Tunisian player Ons Jabeur, currently 54th in the WTA ranking, will participate in the main draw of the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin, despite elimination in qualifying this Sunday. She will thus benefit from a draft (Lucky Loser) and will play her first match on Monday at 1 p.m. Monday, against the American Caroline Dolehide, ranked 63rd in the world.
Faced with Wang, Jabeur experienced a difficult start-up, drying the first round (6-1) dryly. However, she managed to react in the second set, that she won 6 games at 3. But the Tunisian, currently 54th in the world classification, could not maintain the pace and suffered a heavy defeat in the last round (6-0).
The day before, Ons Jabeur had to fight to overcome the French Elsa Jacquemot (113rd). Led after losing the first set (4-6), she had managed to equalize by winning 7-5, before winning a very disputed last round in the tie-break (7-6), after saving two match balls.
The Tunisian will have a new opportunity to shine on the Berlin lawn, thanks to its last minute integration into the final table.
