Tunisian swimmer Ahmed Jaouadi decided to ignore the 400m freestyle at the world of water sports championships in Singapore. A strategic decision to focus on its favorite tests: the 800m and the 1500m NL.
Jaouadi in the running on July 29
Initially registered to compete in the qualifications of the 400m NL on July 27, Ahmed Jaouadi will not take part in this race. The National Technical Director of the Tunisian Swimming Federation (FTN), Seif Fehri, said on Saturday at the TAP agency that this decision had been made by mutual agreement between the swimmer and the technical staff, in order to optimize his performance over longer distances.
Jaouadi will participate in the 800m NL series on July 29 at 4:16 am (Tunisian time), targeting a place in the final scheduled for July 30 at 12:02 p.m. He will continue with the series of 1500m NL on August 2 at 5:10 am, with a possible final scheduled for August 3 at 12:29 p.m.
A strategic choice
The decision is welcomed as a strategic choice aimed at maximizing the chances of the Tunisian swimmer in his specialties, even if she deprives Tunisia of a representative in 400m. The national staff clearly put on long distances.
The World Aquatic Sports Championships are held in Singapore from July 11 to August 3 and bring together six major disciplines. The Tunisian delegation is made up, in addition to Ahmed Jaouadi, by Mohamed Yassine Ben Abbes (100m and 200m back, 400m 4 Nages), Belhassen Ben Miled (200m butterfly) and Jamila Boulkabèche (800m NL).
