During the 2025 world swimming championships, Tunisian Ahmed Jaouadi won the 800 -meter freestyle gold medal, closing the distance in 7: 36.88, an exceptional time that earned him the title of world champion.
Ahmed Jaouadi achieved the 3rd best performance in history, by ahead of the Germans Sven Schwarz (7: 39.96) and Lukas Maertens (7: 40.19).
His performance marks a turning point in the history of Tunisian swimming and hois him at the top of the international podium.
Ahmed Jaouadi had already distinguished himself at the world championships in a small pool in Budapest in 2024, winning gold over 1500 m and bronze on 800 m. At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, he finished 4th in the 800 m and 6th in the 1500 m, confirming his status as a great hope of Tunisian swimming. He is also engaged on the 1500 m freestyle, scheduled for August 2.
