The Tunisian Apneist Walid Boudhiaf has once again written his name in the history of national sport. During the fourth day of the Verical Blue 2025 international competition, organized in Dean’s Blue Hole in Bahamas, he reached the dizzying depth of -118 meters by constant weight with Palmes (CWT), thus establishing a new national record in this demanding discipline.
This feat, praised by Tunisie Telecom, official partner of the athlete, is not only a figure. It reflects years of work, rigor, and an unshakable determination. The dive took place in complex technical conditions, with difficulties at the end of immersion. However, Walid was able to keep composure and control to deliver a clean, secure performance, and validated according to international standards.
Vertical Blue, which is held until July 11 in the Bahamas, is considered the most prestigious apnea competition in the world. It brings together around twenty of the best apneists, including Arnaud Jerald, Alenka Artnik or William Trubridge, organizer of the event.
In a press release, Tunisia Telecom expressed her pride in accompanying Walid Boudhiaf, which she describes as an ambassador of Tunisian talent on the world stage. The operator also underlines his commitment to support elite athletes, carrying national pride.
At 41, Walid Boudhiaf is not his first feat. It already holds the world record in variable weight (-150 m), established in 2021. It is also known for its involvement in the popularization of apnea in Tunisia.
The Tunisian sports community now carefully follows the rest of its participation in Vertical Blue, hoping for new performances that meet this first record.
