The National Professional Football League has a new president. Gathered in Tunis during the elective general assembly, the clubs elected Walid Ben Mohamed at the head of the body, following a vote marked by strong mobilization and a victory in the first round.
Walid Ben Mohamed was elected president of the National Professional Football League following the elective general assembly held on Saturday in Tunis. His list won with 22 votes out of the 42 votes cast, allowing him to get ahead of his competitors and access the presidency in the first round.
The lists led by Oukail Ben Hassine and Hassan Zayène obtained 11 and 9 votes respectively, confirming a relative but decisive majority in favor of the new president.
Strong participation from clubs
The ballot took place in a context of broad participation, with the presence of 42 clubs out of the 44 affiliated to the LNFP. This mobilization demonstrates the importance given to this election, while Tunisian professional football faces significant organizational and structural challenges.
The victorious list led by Walid Ben Mohamed is made up of eleven members called to sit in the League office. They are Kantaoui Nouri, Mounir Ben Hassan, Issam Hamzaoui, Wassim Alouche, Hafedh Ben Ahmed, Slim Khedher, Seifeddine Boussaa, Mourad Ferchichi, Nihed Ben Hamida, Youssef Mehamedi and Thameur Mekaouer.
This team will be responsible for managing issues related to the management of the professional championship, the financial governance of clubs and the organization of competitions.
Originally from Métlaoui, Walid Ben Mohamed is not a newcomer in the management spheres of Tunisian football. He was a member of the National League office during the 2019-2024 term, during which he chaired the professional football committee.
At the same time, he held several positions of responsibility within Étoile sportif de Métlaoui, strengthening his roots in the management of sports affairs at the national level.
