The Ministry of Youth and Sports announced, Friday, A series of firm measures to combat violence in stages. Among them is the revision of the disciplinary code, which could now sanction clubs by withdrawals of points.
During a meeting chaired by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sadok Mourali, at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior, the mixed commission validated the principle of the revision of the disciplinary code. This text will be submitted to the next meeting of the Federal Bureau.
A more severe disciplinary code
The displayed objective is to harden sanctions against clubs in the event of violent incidents, with the possibility of going up to withdrawal of points in the classification.
The meeting also decided to create an operational coordination unit bringing the referee, the match commissioner, the general coordinator and a security manager. This team will be responsible for supervising each meeting on the sporting, safe and logistical plans, and taking all the necessary measures to ensure its smooth running.
The ministry announced the submission of the status of general coordinators to the ministries concerned for validation. In addition, a solemn call was launched to club presidents and the media to avoid incendiary declarations and any speech likely to stir up tensions around matches.
An approach extended to other disciplines
Sadok Mourali insisted on the need to firmly sanction any person involved in acts of violence, recalling that this phenomenon threatens the security of citizens and public goods.
The minister also said that similar meetings will be organized with the Tunisian handball and basketball federations, in order to extend these measures to the sports halls.
This meeting was held in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of the Interior, executives from the Ministry of Sports, as well as representatives of the Tunisian Football Federation, the National Professional Football League and the National Directorate of Arbitration.
