Solid, diligent and largely dominant, the Tunisian selection launched its CAN 2025 perfectly by winning against Uganda (3-1) in Rabat. A victory built with authority, both tactically and collectively, which places the Eagles of Carthage on the right track in Group C.
Tunisia ideally started its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations by taking over Uganda (3-1), Monday evening in Rabat, for the first day of group C. Diligent, organized and technically superior, Sami Trabelsi’s men quickly took control of the debates and were never really worried.
Domination established from the first minutes
From the start, the Carthage Eagles imposed their rhythm, confiscating the ball and pushing Uganda back into their own half. This hold materialized in the 10th minute, when Elyes Skhiri opened the scoring with a precise header at the far post, following a corner perfectly executed by Hannibal Mejbri. A logical goal, rewarding a controlled Tunisian start.
Master in the midfield and disciplined in its organization, the Tunisian selection continued to circulate the ball with patience. On the left flank, Ali Abdi was particularly enterprising.
In the 40th minute, the full-back delivered a brilliant pass to Elyes Achouri, who doubled the lead with a precise shot. Just before the break, Elias Saad narrowly missed the third goal, his shot flying over the crossbar.
A second period managed with maturity
Returning from the locker room, Tunisia did not relax its grip. Solid defensively and calm in managing the tempo, the Eagles continued to project themselves intelligently. In the 65th minute, Elyes Achouri scored twice by recovering a ball rejected by the Ugandan goalkeeper after a powerful strike from Ali Abdi. At 3-0, the fate of the match seemed definitively sealed.
The rest of the match was marked by calm management of the Tunisian advance, punctuated by a few chances, including a header from Firas Chawat that was off target. Uganda saved the honor in added time, with a strike from Denis Omedi unintentionally deflected by Yan Valery into the Tunisian net. A goal with no real impact on the overall scenario of the match.
Despite this goal conceded at the very end of the match, Tunisia delivered a generally successful performance, characterized by collective mastery, defensive solidity and renewed offensive efficiency. This success allows the Eagles of Carthage to ideally launch their journey in Group C and approach the rest of the competition with confidence.
