On the fifth day of African playoffs for the 2026 World Cup, the Tunisian selection recorded a precious victory against Liberia (0-1) this Wednesday, March 19.
This match also marked the beginnings of Sami Trabelsi at the head of the Carthage Eagles, and victory allows Tunisia to consolidate its leader place in group H.
Trabelsi’s men were quick to take control of the game. From the 4th minute, Hazem Mastouri, author of his first goal in selection, took advantage of a precise center of Ali Abdi to open the score of a determining head. This early goal put Tunisia on the rails, and the team then showed impressive defensive solidity.
Although Liberia has tried to react, the Carthage Eagles have perfectly managed their advantage, not giving any real opportunity to their opponents. With this victory, Tunisia continues to dominate its group, with 13 points, and remains undefeated, still not having conceded the slightest goal. Five points ahead of Namibia, it is closer and closer to the qualification for the next World Cup.
This success in Monrovia allows the Carthage Eagles to maintain their invincibility while strengthening their status as a leader, with a series of solid performance which augur well for the rest of the qualifications.
