In a remarkable performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, two Tunisian athletes shone in Taekwondo this Wednesday, August 7, 2024, both by qualifying for the quarter -finals of their respective categories.
Ikram Dhahri, a fighter in the less than 49 kg category, won his fight from the knockout stages against the Mexican Daniela Souza on the 2-1 score. The match took place at the Grand Palais in Paris. Dhahri will face the Croatian Lena Stojkovic in the quarterfinals at 1:30 p.m.
For his part, the Olympic champion Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi, silver medalist in Tokyo 2021, also assured his place in the quarter -finals in the 58 kg category. Exempted from the first round as a world number one, Jendoubi defeated Serbian Korneev in the round of 16. His next opponent will be the Australian Lewis, whom he will face at 2:00 p.m. Tunisian hour.
These two qualifications underline the continuous force of Tunisia in the Olympic Taekwondo and arouse the hope of new medals for the country in this discipline.
