Tribute ceremony to the world swimming champion Ahmed Jaouadi

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Sadok Mourali, presided, on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the headquarters of the ministry, a tribute ceremony to the champion Ahmed Jaouadi, following his coronation in Budapest.

He achieved a global and historic feat at the Budapest 2024 swimming world championships, offering Tunisia a gold medal in the 1500 m free event (25 meter basin) with 14 minutes, 16 seconds and 0.40 hundredths.

On this occasion, the Minister congratulated the Tunisian champion for this exceptional and remarkable international performance, stressing that the impressive results obtained at the World Swimming Championships in Hungary represent an honor for the national flag and for Tunisian sport.

He also welcomed the role of all the stakeholders who contributed to this success, in particular the accompanying executives, the federal office, the ministry, as well as the technical team and the coach.

During the tribute ceremony, the discussions focused on the next champion’s sports deadlines, such as the world of water sports championships to be held in Singapore. There has also been a question of his financial rights as well as his main concerns on the logistical and technical levels.

Ahmed Jaouadi, new prodigy of Tunisian swimming

At 19, Ahmed Jaouadi is the rising star of Tunisian swimming. The one who dominated the French Junior Championships at all levels, participated in the last Paris Olympic Games 2024. But before, he had made his big world debut at the world swimming championships.

The new prodigy of Tunisian swimming won, on December 10, the gold medal at the world swimming championships in a small pool in Budapest during a thrilling final of the 1500 meter freestyle, dominating its opponents. With an impressive chrono by 14’16 ”40, Jaouadi took over the German Florian Wellbrock (14’17” 27) and the Turk Kuzey Tncelli (14’20 “64).

After having missed his race at the 400 -meter freestyle, he brilliantly won the bronze medal in the 800 -meter -free event with an impressive time of 7’31 “93, ranking 3rd behind the Hungarian Zalan Sarkany (7’30” 56) and the German Florian Wellbrock (7’31 “90).
