Tonight, all of Tunisia’s eyes will be riveted on Ahmed Jaouadi, the prodigy of Tunisian swimming, which will compete in the final of the 800 meter freestyle at the Olympic Games 2024.
At just 19 years old, the swimmer carries the hopes of an entire nation and dreams of bringing a new medal to Tunisia. The qualification of Jaouadi for the final of the 800 -meter freestyle is already a victory in itself. However, Tunisians hope to see him climb on the podium.
The final of this evening promises to be intense, with formidable adversaries like the Italian Gregorio Paltrierieri and the American Robert Finke. However, Jaouadi has proven that he is able to compete with the best.
Jaouadi finished on Monday at the top of the 3rd series of qualifications with a time of 7: 42.07 ahead of the Italian Gregorio Paltrierieri (7: 42.48) and the American Bobby Finke (7: 43.00).
The Tunisian author of the second best time of the series behind the Irishman Daniel Wiffen (7: 41.53) will compete this evening the final from 8:02 p.m. where he will be aligned in corridor 5, before tackling the race for 1500 m nl, on August 3 and with the 10 km swimming in free water, August 9.
He will indeed leave to win an Olympic medal and follow suit with his compatriots Osama Mellouli and Ayoub Hafnaoui who had offered Tunisia four Olympic medals (2 gold, 1 bronze for Mellouli and 1 gold for Hafnaoui).
Tonight, all of Tunisia will be behind this prodigy, hoping to see the red and white flag float on the podium.
