The next World Cup in 2026, which will take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico, will be at 48 teams.
The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced this Tuesday, March 14, 2023, in Kigali (Rwanda), that the 2026 World Cup, will take place at 48 teams. The 48 participating nations will be divided into 12 hens of four.
“The FIFA Council unanimously approved the amendment to agree on a format of 48 teams divided into 12 groups of 4,” said the international body.
In total, 104 games will be played at the end of the competition.
