The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, delivered this Friday, August 16, 2024, the National Order of Merit to the three Tunisian athletes having shone during the last Olympic Games in Paris: Firas Katoussi, Fares Ferjani, and Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi.
This distinction rewards their exceptional performance and their contribution to national pride. During the ceremony, President Saïed congratulated the sportsmen for their dedication and urged them to continue working with ardor so that the Tunisian flag floats high on the international scene.
“Despite limited resources, the determination to excel and climb to the first places has overcome all obstacles,” said the president, stressing the importance of the will in sport.
Kaïs Saïed also took the opportunity to remind all of the Tunisian athletes the importance of a victor’s mentality, saying that the time when we participated simply to participate is now over. “Any participation in a competition must be motivated by the desire for victory,” he concluded.
As a reminder, Farejani won the saber agent medal. Firas Kattoussi won the gold medal in Taekwondo in the -80 kg category, while Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi obtained the bronze medal in the under 58 kg.
