The International Football Federation (FIFA) has sent a correspondence to the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) in which it asks the Tunisian football body to bring clarification concerning possible interference from the Ministry of Youth and Sports in its affairs.
In this correspondence, published by Mosaique FM radio, FIFA recalls that “all member federations are required to manage their business independently and that any breach is liable to sanctions which can go as far as the suspension of the federation concerned”.
Among other sanction, FIFA could threaten to freeze the activities of national selections and Tunisian clubs and deprive them of any participation in international competitions.
In the correspondence in question, FIFA asks the FTF to provide it, before October 28, 2022, its position as well as details on this question of interference, making here, reference to the recent declarations made by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Kamel Deguiche, on “the possibility of dissolving federal offices from different disciplines”.
These statements were reportedly interpreted as an attempted interference from the ministry in FTF affairs.
