The Tunisian Football Federation called, in a correspondence addressed to the establishment of Tunisian television, to start broadcasting the games of the Ligue 1 championship of professional football (season 2023-2024), “in order to allow supporters to follow the meetings as was the case for decades and for the sake of perpetuating the historic partnership that links both parties”.
In a statement published on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, the FTF said that it had accepted, about a year ago, the annual offer presented by national television last season with a view to acquiring the dissemination rights for championship, cup and meetings of the national selection.
“But despite the FTF agreement, national television did not keep its offer, and the sports public could not follow matches on the national channel whose budget comes mainly from the subsidy of the State and the contribution of members to the electricity and gas network,” recalls the FTF.
The Federation adds that the meetings offered by Tunisian television still remain at its disposal, inviting it to start with the games of the Ligue 1 championship.
She also said that she “will not currently condition the payment of previous debts in return for the resumption of the dissemination of matches, despite the fact that television has not paid for debts which amount to 10.5 million dinars concerning the period 2019-2022, and has not honored its financial offer, estimated at 4.7 million dinars, for the 2022-2023 season.
