The Nice prosecutor, Xavier Bonhomme, announced on Friday June 30, 2023, in a press release that the ex-entity of Paris Saint-Germain, Christophe Galtier had been referred in the investigation for which he is accused of racism by the football director of the OGC Nice, Julien Fournier.
This announcement follows the custody of the former Nice coach earlier this Friday.
The prosecutor adds that he will be “deemed heads of moral harassment and discrimination due to belonging or non -belonging, true or supposed, to an ethnicity, a nation, an alleged race or a determined religion”.
These accusations had been unveiled by Julien Fournier, director of football of the OGC Nice when Christophe Galtier was the coach of the club.
Christophe Galtier’s son John Valovic Galtier was released earlier in this case and will not be referred. The prosecutor specifies all the same that he is “devoid of any official function within the OGC Nice”, he who held the position of sports advisor.
Xavier Bonhomme specifies in his press release that the accusations which Christophe Galtier is subject are subject to “3 -year prison sentence and a 45,000 euros fine”.
As a reminder, a preliminary investigation had been open in mid-April for suspicions of “discrimination based on an alleged race or belonging to a religion” after accusations targeting Christophe Galtier, ex-coach of the Nice team (L1).
Christophe Galtier is suspected of having made discriminatory, racist and Islamophobic remarks during his year at the head of the Côte d’Azur club (2021-2022).
