In a press release published today, Tuesday, May 14, the World Anti-Doping Agency (AMA) spoke following the arrest of the Director General of the National Anti-Doping Agency in Tunisia (ANAD), which occurred after its attempts to resolve non-compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code.

AMA supports the efforts of ANAD and international federations to enforce the non-compliance decision.

The arrest of the Managing Director is worrying, and the AMA requests its immediate release. Despite the obstacles, the AMA collaborates closely to solve the problem quickly, with notable progress. The AMA remains confident as to a rapid resolution of this situation.

An investigation was opened following the incident of the national flag covered with a fabric during the seventh edition of the Tunisian Open Masters, organized by the Tunisian Swimming Federation, whose visit to the Kais Saied President has caused a lot of ink to flow.

Nine people are accused of conspiracy against state security, two of whom are currently in detention. The prosecution decided to open a judicial information against these people and the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, demanded that the officials be judged.

Consequently, the Ministry of Youth and Sport announced the dissolution of the Federal Office of the Tunisian Swimming Federation and the dismissal of the Director General of the National Anti -Doping Agency.

Recall that Tunisia is under the influence of the World Anti -Doping Agency for not having respected the World Anti -Doping Code, which means that the Tunisian flag will not be hoisted during the next Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.

Last night, two of the nine accused was the subject of a mandate Depôt, namely the former president of the Tunisian Swimming Federation and a general manager within the National Anti -Doping Agency.
