The Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Sousse Court of First Instance has mandated the Sousse National Guard’s investigation brigade to open an investigation concerning suspicions of embezzlement around the redevelopment of the Sousse Olympic stadium.
This investigation will be carried out on suspicions of corruption, linked to the work of extension and renovation of the stadium, confirmed, Sunday, December 10, 2023, the spokesperson for the court, Wissem Cherif.
He indicated that information, concerning presumptions of corruption which led to serious overruns in the upgrade work of the stadium, have reached justice.
He spoke of the results of an audit carried out by the African Football Confederation which stipulates that the stadium is not empowered to host continental matches, due to the non-compliance of works to international and African standards.
Investigators must specifically investigate the contracts granted for renovation work, expenses incurred and the quality of interventions.
