While hoping to return to Tunisia, Slim Riahi, who plans to regularize his legal situation through his request for criminal conciliation, benefited from a postponement in the case which opposes the African Club.
Slim Riahi, former president of the African club on a state of flight, is prosecuted by the African club in this case, and the criminal chamber specializing in financial corruption affairs at the Tunis court of first instance decided to postpone the examination of this case to a later date.
The trial brought to the criminal by the African club against its former president for qualified treason and money laundering, is therefore postponed to a later date pending the result of the request for criminal reconciliation filed by the lawyer of Slim Riahi.
Slim Riahi’s lawyer attended on his behalf and informed the jury of the criminal chamber specializing in financial corruption affairs that his client had submitted a request to the National Criminal Reconciliation Commission, asking for a postponement pending the result of reconciliation.
While the name Slim Riahi resurfaces, some of his lawyers have confirmed that he hoped to return to Tunisia in order to regularize his legal situation and take all the steps for criminal conciliation.
Slim Riahi, former president of the Free Patriotic Union and the African Club, is involved in several cases. He is accused of embezzlement of funds, financial corruption and money laundering.
It should be noted that the former president of the African club declared in May 2022 that he would return to Tunisia to face justice. He was sentenced on December 12, 2019 to 11 years in prison in absentia for money laundering.
Slim Riahi took control of the African club in July 2012, then resigned in November 2017 due to the accumulation of judicial affairs against him and the frost of his assets by decision of the investigating judge at the judicial center.
