This was announced this Thursday, May 12, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Kamel Deguiche, on Thursday, on the sidelines of the emergency meeting held at the headquarters of his department in the aftermath of incidents having enamelled the final of the Tunisia Handball Cup and this, in the presence of the representatives of the Management Committee of the Tunisian Handball Federation (FTHB) and the Director of the National Sports.
“Political parties are behind this situation”
Kamel Deguiche assured that “the decision to make or not replaying the match on closed doors will be examined later after collecting technical elements and all the data concerning this meeting”, stressing that “the sanction must not be collective and that no one will escape punishment”.
He said that the resurgence of violence in stadiums and sports halls is mainly due to mobilization operations anticipating decisive matches. He also indicated “that there are political parties that are behind this situation and who seek to politicize sport”.
He announced that the ministry will open its investigation into how the smoke bombs were introduced and on all the overruns recorded during this meeting.
The minister revealed that the wave of violence that recently affected football, basketball, handball, volleyball and even water polo, crossed red lines, explaining that legislative texts are ready to deal with this scourge. “
Material damage estimated at 100 thousand dinars
For his part, Tarek Farjaoui, director of the national sports city, said that the material damage due to acts of violence recorded yesterday were estimated at around 100,000 dinars.
Like Kamel Deguiche, he indicated that these overflows were predictable given the mobilization campaigns on social networks and press releases published by clubs warning against certain intruders in the ranks of their supporters.
