Tunisian Yassine Gharbi won the 400-meter armchair (T54 category) gold medal on Tuesday morning at the World Para-Athletics Championships in India. In 44”96, he signed a new world record and scored Tunisia at the top of the podium.

Committed to the 400m chair (T54), Yassine Gharbi flew over the race by producing a historic time of 44 seconds 96 hundredths, thus improving the world record for the discipline. He is ahead of Thai Athiwat Paeng-noea (45”29), which leaves with money, and Chinese Dai Yunqiang (45”44), bronze medal.

This victory constitutes the first Tunisian gold medal in these 2025 Worlds. It is added to the bronze medal already obtained by Raoua Tlili to the weight throwing (F41). With this success, Tunisia once again confirms its status as a flagship nation of world para-athletics.

The Tunisian delegation, with 11 athletes (5 women and 6 men), still targets other podiums. This Tuesday, Marwa Brahmi will play the final of the Massue launch (F32) at 12:30 p.m. (Tunisian time).
Among the other representatives are also Raja Jebali, Yosra Ben Jemaa, Jihene Azaiez, Rouay Jebabli, Amenunlah Tissaoui, Yassine Guennichi, Walid Ktila and Nidhal Khelifi.
