The 20th Open International Tennis of Tunis will be held from May 12 to 17 on the Tennis Club of Tunis courts, with a participation of 50 players representing 25 countries. Ranked in the ATP Challenger circuit (75 points), the tournament offers an allocation of $ 100,000.

At a press conference Thursday in Tunis, the director of the tournament, Salima Ben Mustapha, stressed that this edition will be played in single and double, on clay. French Valentin Royer, 117th in the world, is one of the headliners. This tournament constitutes for several players an important preparation stage before Roland-Garros.

On the Tunisian side, ADEM NAGOUDI, ALA Trifi, Ahmed Darmoul and Omar Knani will try to access the main draw via the qualifications. Aziz Dougaz, Aziz Ouakaa and Moez Chargui are already engaged. In double, the participation of Skander Mansouri remains uncertain. He could form a pair with Ouakaa, while Dougaz could play with French Benoît Paire.

Tennis club president Kheireddine Kechrid recalled that the tournament, launched in 1982, has returned to force since 2022 after two years of interruption linked to the pandemic. The club, with its 15 shorts, including a central of 2,800 places, plays a central role in the influence of Tunisian tennis.

The president of the organizing committee, Chiraz Elloumi, announced free access to the public, calling for a strong mobilization to make this edition a popular and media success. Tarek Cherif, honorary president of the African Tennis Confederation, pleaded for more investments in order to develop discipline in Tunisia.
