Ons Jabeur wins the Ningbo tournament

Ons Jabeur (7th in the world) won, today his second title of the season by winning in the final of the Ningbo WTA 250 tournament.

In the final, she was opposed this Saturday, September 30, 2023 to the Russian Diana Shnaider (85th in the world) in a match which she dominated from start to finish in two sets (6-2, 6-1) in 78 minutes.

The first set was balanced at the start before the Tunisian took off at 1-1 to quickly lead 5-1 then 5-2 and finally win this set 6-2.

The same scenario was repeated in the second set. Ons Jabeur was led 1-1 before regaining the upper hand and winning this 6-1 set.

During his journey, Ons Jabeur, seeded number 1, beat Diane Parry (80th) in two sets on behalf of the 1st round (7-6, 7-5). In the 2nd round, she eliminated the German, Tamara Korpatsch, classified 107th in the WTA ranking, in two sets (6-3, 6-2).

In the quarterfinals, she eliminated the Russian Vera Zvonareva (526th) in three sets (7-5, 4-6, 6-1) and in the semi-finals, Ons Jabeur won against Argentina Nadia Podoroska (87th) also in three sets (6-3, 1-6, 6-2).

This is the second title won by Ons Jabeur, this season, after his success during the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston, the Swiss Belinda Bencic. Ons Jabeur has also reached the Wimbledon final this year, lost to the Czech Marketa Vondrousova.

Today, Ons Jabeur has played his thirteenth final in the WTA circuit. The Tunisian has already lost eight finals including Charleston, Rome, Wimbledon and the US Open in 2022 alone and again Wimbledon in 2023. She also won five trophies in Birmingham in 2021, Madrid and Berlin in 2022, Charleston and Ningbo this year.
