The brand new world number 7, Ons Jabeur, has victoriously started his adventure at the Rome tournament by winning against the Romanian, Sorana Cirstea, two sets at zero.
Faced with the world’s number 26th, our Tunisian champion dominated her opponent quite widely during the first set, concluded in the 6-0 score, before seeing her opponent raise her level of play considerably during the next set. This did not prevent ons from winning at Tie Break, 7-6, to pocket the second round and the match with it.
During the next round, Ons Jabeur will face the Australian, Ajla Tomljanovic, number 29 in the classification. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday May 11 at 3.30 p.m. (Tunisian time). It should be noted that the Rome tournament is a Masters 1000.
