Ons Jabeur is playing the quarterfinals of the Madrid WTA 1000 tournament tonight. She faces the American Madison Keys, who eliminated the world number 3 Cori Gauff.

Ons Jabeur found his tennis. Tunisian tenniswoman, 9th world player, was expeditious yesterday against the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (10th) by beating her opponent in two sets (6-0, 6-4) in 1h07.

Tonight, it will be in front of an American that she will have to do battle in the quarterfinals and then faces the American Madison Keys (20th WTA), falls from her compatriot Cori Gauff (3rd in the world) in three sets (7-6, 4-6, 6-4) during the eighths played yesterday.

Ons Jabeur faced Madison Keys twice in the past and each time it was the Tunisian who won, in 2020 in the 2nd round of the US Open and in 2022 in the 2nd round of the San Jose tournament.

Rant

Let’s go back to his victory yesterday to point out that in the margins of it, which was without burrs, Ons Jabeur pushed a rant. She denounced the treatment of players compared to the players during the Masters of Madrid.

“We still have a long way to go, especially here in Madrid and Rome, in Europe in general. I have the impression that they must respect women more and that they must respect how we play. There are things we feel. The way they treat women here and men is completely different. Maybe people don’t see it from the outside. I really like to look at female tennis, I like to look at female sport in general. I think we deserve better, ”she said.

And to add: “A player has just told me that she wanted a training ground, and that four girls in the top 20 shared the short while during this time, guys had the ground for two-three hours. It is not the fault of the people who organize training, but of the tournament (…) ”.

Exocused from the first round, Ons Jabeur entered the running against the Slovak Anna Karolina Schmedlova (68th) which she beat in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-3). In the 3rd round, she eliminated the Canadian Leylah Annie Fernandez (35th) also in three sets (7-5, 2-6, 6-4). Yesterday, she eliminated Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, 10th in the world, in two sets (6-0, 6-4).
