The World Food Program (PAM) announced on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, the appointment of the Tunisian Star of Tennis Ons Jabeur as a new global goodwill ambassador.
Recognized for his sports prowess and his commitment to social causes, Jabeur will use his influential voice to raise awareness of global food insecurity and support the mission of WFP aimed at eliminating hunger, it was communicated.
Ons Jabeur, the first Arab woman to reach three Grand Slam finals and ex-numéro two worldwide, has always demonstrated his desire to have a positive impact beyond the tennis court.
In her role as a global ambassador for the PAM good will, she will plead in favor of equitable access to nutritious foods and in favor of actions aimed at attacking the deep causes of hunger that affect vulnerable communities around the world.
“Ons embodies a spirit of resilience and determination which perfectly corresponds to the mission and values of the WFP,” said PAM executive director Cindy McCain. “She has a deep passion for the creation of positive changes that will strengthen our efforts to end hunger in the world and promote sustainable development – we are delighted to see her join our team.
Recall that the Tunisian actress Hend Sabri announced her resignation from the United Nations World Food Program (PAM), 13 years after joining the program as a goodwill ambassador, due to what is currently happening in Gaza.
