Ons Jabeur was eliminated from the Roland Garros tournament after his defeat, today, opposite the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia.
The duel between Ons Jabeur, 7th world player and the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, 14th in the WTA ranking, was intense and played from start to finish, this Wednesday, June 7 on the short Phillipe-Chatrier, as part of the quarterfinals.
It was finally Beatriz Haddad Maia who won in three sets (3-6-, 7-6, 6-1).
The first set, which lasted 46 minutes, started well for Ons Jabeur. She led up to 4-1 and then let go of ballast and leave the controls of the match to her opponent. The Brazilian is not asked to return to 3-5. In a burst of pride, the Tunisian resumes things in hand to finally win this first set 6-3.
The second set is much more balanced. The score remains tight and none of the two players takes the advantage up to 6-6. They go to the tie-break that Haddad Maia (7-5) won and win the second set 7-6 after 63 minutes of play.
The third set was one-way in favor of the Brazilian who won 6-1 and won the match.
In the semi-finals, Beatriz Haddad Maia will face the duel winner who has to oppose today, the world number 1, the Polish Iga Swiatek and the American Cori Gauff (6th WTA).
