Tunisian tennis star Ons Jabeur announced, via a message published on her Instagram account, that she took a break in her career, after a series of disappointing results and a growing malaise on the courts.
A moving message to justify a break
In her post, Jabeur explains that she feels the need to step back, breathe and heal after two years marked by injuries and personal challenges. Eliminated in the first round of Wimbledon 2025, a tournament where she had been a finalist in 2022 and 2023, the Tunisian champion confides that she no longer felt “really happy on the court”.
“Tennis is a magnificent sport, but at the moment, I need to rediscover the joy of simply living,” she wrote.
Understanding and united fans
Ons Jabeur thanked his audience for his constant support, promising to remain connected “in a different way” throughout this break. His message quickly aroused a wave of emotion and solidarity on social networks, where many fans and sportsmen salute his courage and sincerity.
A descent to the classification which reflects the difficulties
The announcement comes as Jabeur fell in 71st place in the WTA ranking, after losing an additional 12 rows recently. This decline reflects a gradual decline in its performance, especially on the Grand Chelem tournaments where it struggled to regain its level.
