By beating, on Saturday, Canadian Leylah Annie Fernandez, Ons Jabeur crossed a new course in the Madrid WTA 1000 tournament. The serious things are starting today with the knockout stages. The Tunisian opponent is Jelena Ostapenko, 10th in the world.

Ons Jabeur has regained her marks in Madrid where she today approaches the knockout stages. Demonstrating a will finally found, the Tunisian, 9th in the world, had to whip to reach until the round of 16.

A new challenge presents itself to her today since she faces a top 10 player, namely the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, 10th WTA.

The two players know each other well for having already faced each other four times in the past whose last time dates back to last year in the round of 16 of the Stuttgart tournament. The Tunisian had won in three sets. In total, the two players have a record of two victories for each one as much to say that today’s confrontation acts as “beautiful”.

Exocused from the first round, Ons Jabeur entered the running against the Slovak Anna Karolina Schmedlova (68th) which she beat in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-3). In the 3rd round, she eliminated the Canadian Leylah Annie Fernandez (35th) also in three sets (7-5, 2-6, 6-4).
